The challenge

Flag began working with HP in 2017. The goal was to create a simple, go-to resource for sustainability programmes, which also communicated HP’s leadership position on sustainability. The report had to be robust while reflecting the evolution of HP’s sustainability work.

The process

HP’s successful approach is based on collaboration and coordination with a large number of internal experts across the business. We facilitate and attend content interviews over weeks, progressively updating the narrative with key messages and detailed input from the experts.

We provide consultancy, content planning and writing support to help the company continuously enhance its reporting. In 2019, for example, we helped implement a revised structure that streamlines the reporting and brings HP’s circular economy thinking to the foreground.

Successful delivery

The solution

HP’s 2019 Sustainable Impact Report comprises an accessible, visual executive summary and a full, mainly text-based, data-driven report. The full report of 130 pages provides comprehensive disclosure informed by the SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) sustainability frameworks.

In 2019, we also worked with HP to help deliver its inaugural Human Rights Progress Report.
