Setting the pace

Flag’s association with Ford Motor Company over the last 15 years has seen it develop into a leading sustainability reporter that continues to reflect emerging trends. In addition to the consultancy, project management, design and production services we have long provided, we have also written Ford’s report and created supporting video content for the last two years.

New developments this year

As part of the ongoing drive to improve and enhance, Ford’s 2016/17 sustainability report – available online and in PDF format – was compiled in accordance with the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards at a Comprehensive level. Ford also used the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework for human rights disclosure for the first time.

A major focus in recent years has been to streamline the content to reflect Ford’s most material issues. Flag’s materiality assessment involved issue research and identification, stakeholder interviews and analysis. Our findings were presented in the online report in an interactive matrix, which not only defines Ford’s material issues but also graphically illustrates how they interconnect.

The microsite brings some of Ford’s most material issues to life through six front-page stories, all with a bold and eye-catching design, and links to more detail in deeper layers of the site. These key stories also appear in an eight-page summary report, available in PDF and print formats.

Achieving high design standards

We continue to aim for the highest standards of design, usability and accessibility. The microsite in particular has been created with a wide range of user journeys in mind, providing intuitive navigation and a seamless, responsive design.

The content is enriched with data charts, infographics and videos, providing useful information, visual interest and an engaging sense of movement. The many videos include four custom-made films with voiceovers: a main homepage video gives an overview of sustainability at Ford, while three others explore the company’s electrification journey, its focus on driver safety and its ethical approach.
