Activating audiences at SXSW

The biggest challenge facing non-profits is funding. CaringCrowd works to address that by giving organisations and advocates a free way to raise funds and promote their work.

Telling a new kind of story

CaringCrowd is an innovative crowdfunding platform for health-focused non-profit organisations with a powerful story to tell. We teamed up with CaringCrowd to help increase awareness among NGOs and journalists by hosting an event at the 2018 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.

We began with an overhaul of CaringCrowd’s external messaging and designed an eye-catching, one-page brochure that clearly explained the benefits for non-profits to use CaringCrowd rather than other crowdfunding sites.

We applied the new, simple messaging and visual identity to a series of large-scale banners and an animated presentation, which collectively told the story of the impact made by CaringCrowd’s fundraising.

Building relationships, generating impact

At the event in March 2018, we secured a sponsorship for the health speakers’ Green Room, a behind-the-scenes area for all the health speakers at the festival. This area included on-site branding and access to speakers.

Flag invited more than 200 people to an exclusive Happy Hour in the Green Room to introduce non-profits and journalists to the projects CaringCrowd is helping to support. We also secured meetings with high-profile organisations, including the Human Rights Foundation and the Miracle Foundation, and attracted journalists from a number of publications including The Washington Post, MedGadget, Politico, US News and World Report, and Austin Fit Magazine.

The interviews we secured at SXSW generated nearly 10 million media impressions and stories in the Austin Business Journal and Austin Fit Magazine. And on the heels of the event, we also secured a feature about CaringCrowd with Forbes.
