A journey of impact

Nestlé reports publicly on its contribution to society through its annual Creating Shared Value and Sustainability Report. Creating Shared Value (CSV) defines how Nestlé does business and lives up to its purpose: unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come.

Robust reporting over the long term

Nestlé has a well-earned reputation for being a leader in comprehensive reporting at the highest level and Flag has been accompanying them on that journey since 2008, helping the company grow into the robust reporting leader it is today.

In the last three years, we have supported Nestlé in a key phase: transitioning to a more multi-faceted approach, across a more streamlined and focused progress report supported by a website with supplementary case studies, as well as evergreen and more detailed narrative content on key issues. We have also helped Nestlé develop a less formal tone of voice by using a style of language that is more approachable and accessible, and produced a 12-page summary for the Nestlé Group’s Annual Review. For the first time in 2020, we created an appendix to house information relevant for expert audiences.

Impactful communications

We worked with the global Public Affairs team to ensure Nestlé’s progress against its 2030 objectives and 36 corporate commitments was transparently communicated. Based on interviews with, and additional input from, more than 70 content providers from across the business, we outlined Nestlé’s key impacts on society, with case studies and quotes bringing changes of pace to a robust, data-filled report.

The report is aligned to internationally recognised reporting frameworks such as the GRI Standards and the UN Global Compact communication on progress, and in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We also worked closely with Bureau Veritas to ensure that all data within the report was independently verified.

The partnership with Flag has been invaluable! Their expertise helped us develop and create a report we are really proud of.
