Communicating value creation
As part of the move to integrated reporting, we helped Crest to define and communicate its business model in line with the International <IR> Framework, developed by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). This included identifying the key resources and relationships that are fundamental to long-term value creation, as well as the wider value the business creates for investors, the economy, communities, employees and the environment.
A holistic reporting suite
Considering the reporting suite as a whole to meet the needs of all stakeholder audiences, we also developed a summary report to distil the key content for time-sensitive readers and for use as collateral at events and conferences. More detailed sustainability performance data is featured on Crest’s corporate website.
The move to integrated reporting has avoided the previous repetition between annual and sustainability reports, enabled a more joined-up reporting narrative, and provided an opportunity to reconsider which channels and formats would be best for communicating with stakeholders.
Supporting the transition to integrated reporting
We provided practical guidance in applying the International <IR> Framework, ensuring adherence to the guiding principles and the content elements within it. This involved a materiality assessment with Crest’s key stakeholders to define the issues that matter most, an exercise that helped to shape the report’s content.
We also ran workshops with directors and senior managers to define how we communicate key integrated reporting elements such as the business model, strategy, material issues and KPIs.
