As the first FTSE company ever to win the PwC Building Public Trust Award for sustainability reporting for three consecutive years, Carillion has a reputation for continually developing its sustainability strategy and communications.
Flag has a longstanding partnership with Carillion, working closely with the sustainability team and advising them on best-practice approaches since 2008. In 2015, we again assisted them with their reporting, which was delivered in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 Guidelines at Core Level.
An intuitive journey
Carillion creates value and strengthens communities through activities such as building better schools, improving transport infrastructure and creating healthier environments, and we sought to aid reader understanding of those impacts through a value-creation model. We designed the regional sustainability summaries to open out into colourful visual representations of the model. Depicting the key values the company creates and shares through its many activities, these posters now adorn the walls of Carillion’s sites and offices.
The posters also guide colleagues and visitors to a microsite, which summarises how the company’s performance aligns with global megatrends and society’s significant challenges. From the site, a full sustainability report – structured around Carillion’s efforts to generate six positive outcomes by building a better business, a better society and a better environment – is available to download.
