With our help, Ford’s sustainability reporting has evolved to become not only award-winning but world-leading.

The road to success

We’ve helped Ford to produce sustainability reports since 2002, during which time the company has evolved into one of the world’s leading reporters and received a wealth of recognition, including winning the North American Ceres-ACCA Reporting Awards and being runner-up twice.

Our most recent collaboration, the 2014/15 sustainability report, was once again developed with the corporate sustainability team, global skills team, subject matter experts and US-based sustainability reporting and strategy specialists, BuzzWord. Global Mobility Through Changing Times is a materiality-based online report that majors on the company’s innovative solutions to address current and future mobility issues.

Forming the largest section of Ford.com, this report is unashamedly comprehensive, yet the reader-focused navigation simplifies the user journey. The site offers visitors options for finding and digesting content, from infographics to suit skim readers to more in-depth content and performance trend data. The design is intuitive and the responsive framework ensures the site works well with mobiles and tablets.

The report sections are designed to support messaging that introduces readers to the key issues at the top level, and then provides detailed information and data at deeper levels.

A change in direction

For the last decade, Ford has used materiality assessments, developed by the BuzzWord team, to shape strategy and identify reporting priorities, emerging issues and goals and this year, to transition Ford’s reporting to a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 comprehensive report. The current assessment added a megatrend analysis to provide more insight across five key areas: financial, environmental, human, social and governance.

The responsive site is designed to provide a great user experience on any device. Our expertise in information design ensures content is engaging and digestible, and our focus on online best practice makes the report accessible and easy to use.

The main report is complemented by a short summary, available in print and as a PDF. This is designed for use at town-hall events, in Ford buildings and with dealers, and is available in several languages.
